During the last few days we went Dubai for a trade mission. It is not the first time we travel to the United Arab Emirates, a country that is important to approach and get to know to develop an effective business network.
The United Arab Emirates represent one of the most interesting markets, which developed a fast economic growth in the recent years; Dubai is a rapidly growing city that represents the future of business like few others in the world.
It has more than 3 million inhabitants, of which only 10% is native.
The remaining 90% is made up of immigrants, workers and professionals from all over the world. In recent years the presence of Italians has considerably increased, from 7,000 to 10,000. Dubai moves at an incredible speed, like the 1.200 km/h of the new “Hyperloop”, the electromagnetic propulsion railway system, currently under study, which will be able to connect the 140 km distance between Dubai and Abu Dhabi in just 12 minutes.
Everything starts, or at least passes, from here; the city is ahead of many issues: economy (areas devoted to free economic initiative have been erected, to attract foreign investors and companies active in information technology and finance), tourism (with the creation of buildings in the desert and artificial archipelagos and peninsulas), transport (the “driverless pods” public transport without a driver, will be shortly launched), and innovation (Dubai will be the headquarters of the Solar Decathlon Middle East 2018).
We returned to Dubai to develop new business relationships, to meet architecture firms, interior, landscape and garden designer studios, to identify luxury furniture showrooms, specialized in Made in Italy, and to find new partners especially in the field of technology.
In a place like this, everything moves around innovation and quality, characteristics that distinguish Forme d’Acqua and our products. The fact of being able to manage every project inside the company, preventing the customer to rely on other professionals, simplifying the management and therefore saving time and money, is also an important advantage.
During our mission we also had the opportunity to meet with Valentina Setta, the Italian Consul in Dubai and Giampaolo Bruno, the director of the Istituto Commercio Estero – ICE, who were extremely helpful and happy to meet an example of an Italian company that invests and creates in such a distant territory.
We also managed to deepen our knowledge of the city with an exploration of the D3 – Design District and a brief visit to the Dubai Frame the new architectural and engineer work and tourist attraction that make the visitor know the Dubai of the past, the present and the future.
We also made a quick visit to the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park where, in November, the Solar Decathlon Middle East will take place. This is going to be the international and inter-academic competition, dedicated to the world of architecture and sustainable living.
Forme d’Acqua will participate to this project, involved by La Sapienza University of Rome, through Restart4Smart, the realization of a 1:1 scale eco-sustainable and technological house that will be embellished by our interactive indoor fountain Selene. The prototype of the house will be built at the Solar Park in Dubai.
This was a really positive mission that not only introduced us in new and interesting business relationships that we will be developed in the next few months, but also it allowed us to deepen our knowledge of a country fundamental for our business.
