A Venetian company in Messina for the restyling of the Piazza della Repubblica’s musical dancing fountain
Forme d’Acqua Venice Fountains is the Venetian company that took care of the restyling of the Piazza della Repubblica’s water features, transforming the large circular pool into an innovative and sustainable musical dancing fountain. The work was commissioned by the Municipality of Messina, in synergy with AMAM SpA, to give a new corner of sociality to the city. The inauguration will be held on Thursday 21 December at 6 pm.
Venice, 21 December 2023 – Today, 21 December at 6 pm in Messina, the inauguration of the new fountain in Piazza della Repubblica will be held, in the presence of Federico Basile – Mayor of Messina – the Councilors of the Basile Council, the General Director Salvo Puccio, Loredana Bonasera – the president of AMAM SpA – together with the members, the corporate bodies and the General Director of the company. The work, commissioned by the Municipality of Messina, in synergy with AMAM SpA, will give new life to the large fountain which has welcomed visitors since the Second World War and accompanied the days of the people of Messina. On the occasion of the Christmas holidays, the Municipality of Messina and AMAM SpA have chosen to donate to the city the restyling of the water features in Piazza della Repubblica, transforming the circular pool into a musical dancing fountain.
Forme d’Acqua Venice Fountains, the company from Cavallino Treporti (VE) specializes in custom-made fountains and water features, taking care of the MEP design and the programming of the water and light choreographies, to offer a work beautiful, sustainable, and enriches experiential nature of the urban area.
The old nozzle ring was replaced by a custom-made AISI316L stainless steel frame with a diameter of 7 meters, in which 28 dynamic nozzles were installed. Each nozzle is connected to a controllable speed pump and an RGB+White LED spot, to make the choreography and lighting of each water jet independent. A second AISI316L stainless steel frame with a diameter of 1.20 meters was mounted in the center, which houses a multi-jet nozzle that generates a high and majestic crown of water that reaches 5 meters in height. This nozzle is powered by three controllable speed pumps and is illuminated by 4 RGB+White LED spots.
The water and light choreographies were created by the technical programmers of Forme d’Acqua, in collaboration with the designer arch. Simona M. Favrin – FavrinDesign, who was able to give a new voice to the musical dancing fountain, making its communicative capacity even more persuasive. To inaugurate the work, 10 songs were programmed, chosen from the most followed and loved hits both nationally and internationally, such as “Hold My Hand” by Lady Gaga, “C’era una volta il West” by Ennio Morricone, Supremacy” by Muse, “Shut up and go” by Maneskin and “Viva la vida” by Coldplay. Considering the period, “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey is inevitable to make the Christmas atmosphere even more magical.
The selection of songs can also be managed from a smartphone, tablet, or PC, via MyFountain, the app created by Forme d’Acqua for the remote management of its fountains.
Thanks to the anemometer, in the event of strong winds, the water features are lowered proportionally until they are turned off (in the event of particularly bad weather that makes it impossible to carry out the water shows), to always guarantee the full efficiency of the fountain.
In addition to being highly emotional, this fountain is a model of sustainability. The MEP parts have been completely redesigned, including a water filtration and recirculation system, which allows the continuous reuse of water, automatically replenished when necessary. To guarantee the correct functioning of the mechanical parts, a panel has been installed for the automatic chlorination and acidification of the water, always keeping it clean and free of limescale.
