The lagoon monster at Villa Necchi FAI, an artistic fountain between glass and technology
After the exhibition at Bologna Water Design, the monster of the lagoon has re-emerged in Milan, on the occasion of the exhibition in which Jean Blanchaert talked about “The art of glass today in Italy“.
Strongly desired by the curator Jean Blanchaert as an expression of a millenary art, that of artistic glass, which is renewed and communicates with the present through experimentation and comparison with technology.
The exhibition presented the creations of some of the most important Italian and international designers and sculptors. From works in colored glass to artefacts with the most eccentric shapes, the creations presented are an expression of the many variations of glass, the great inventiveness of the designers and the extraordinary manual skill of the glass masters. In the garden of the Villa was exhibited “The lagoon monster”, a work designed by Simona M. Favrin completely covered with glass scales handmade by the master glassmaker Nicola Moretti, more than 6 meters long, illuminated by a complex technological mechanism.
The work, on display from November 27th 2014 to January 6th 2015, was exhibited at Villa Necchi Campiglio, the architectural jewel of the Thirties designed by the famous architect Piero Portaluppi, a refined house with a delightful garden in the quietest corner of Milan , expertly restored by the FAI and part of the Milan House Museum circuit.
