Event: Presentation of the work

The lagoon monster was premiered in the exhibition-event that was held on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27 th February 2011 in the fascinating setting of Tenuta del Cavallino, in Cavallino Treporti, Venice.

An unexpected influx, also for the organizers, who counted 1700 people in the 15 hours of opening, coming not only from the neighboring areas, but also from outside the region, given the presence of representatives from Tuscany, Emilia Romagna, Lombardy and Friuli Venezia Giulia.

The event opened with a presentation conference, in which the protagonists of the project as well as numerous local authorities took part. The debate was also joined by a delegation from Turkey, made up of representatives of external relations from the Municipality of Istanbul and the Department of Culture. Indeed, Istanbul will host the most important stage of the monster’s journey, in the splendid setting of the Basilica Cistern.

At the end of the conference, the guests were seduced by the voice of Marina Salvadori and the instruments of Emanuele Wiltsch Barberio and Massimiliano Lupo, who with their musical performance made the encounter with the “Monster”, this creature from the steel core and Murano glass scales that emerges from the water and is wrapped in a play of LED lights.

That of Saturday has been an evening also under the sign of “live” art, with the live creations of three Master Glassmakers who demonstrated the ancient technique of glass fusion thanks to the presence of an original smelting furnace, owned of Promovetro and transported to Cavallino for the occasion. And last but not least, good food could not be missing, a riot of flavors and local products expertly combined by the Restaurateurs Association of Cavallino Treporti.
