Semi-dynamic Floor Fountain
Parco dell’Ascolto, Cittadella

Description
In Cittadella, the former Cigas area on Riva IV Novembre has been transformed into a new urban park, called Parco dell’Ascolto, named after Bartolomeo Cristofori, a native of Cittadella which was the inventor of the fortepiano (a musical instrument that preceded the piano). This project is part of the investments funded by the PNRR (National Plan for Regional Development) and earmarked for urban redevelopment and regeneration projects aimed at reducing marginalization and social degradation, with the goal of improving the urban fabric of the Municipality of Cittadella. The project envisions the redevelopment of the degraded and unused area, returning it to the community with new social and recreational functions, with a focus on innovation and sustainability. The Parco dell’Ascolto covers approximately 6,240 square meters and includes:
  • A semi-dynamic fountain
  • Inclusive games for children
  • A sensory garden
  • Areas dedicated to young people
  • Paths designed for seniors
The semi-dynamic fountain is situated near the new green amphitheatre, designed to allow spectators to enjoy the view of the dancing water jets, which change colour thanks to a DMX lighting system. When the fountain is turned off, the area transforms into a space completely free from architectural obstructions, ideal for hosting events, performances, and shows. The fountain has a rectangular shape and is composed of two staggered parallel rows, each with four jets per side, for a total of eight. The water jets are integrated into custom boxes made of AISI 316L stainless steel, each housing a nozzle and an RGB+White LED spotlight. Both emerge from two holes cut into the box lid, which is covered in the same material as the flooring, ensuring aesthetic and stylistic continuity with the surrounding context. The above-ground technical room houses the water filtration system, consisting of a pump connected to a glass sand filter and a panel for automatic pH and Redox control and balancing. This allows the same water to be reused and kept clean and safe, free of pathogens and dirt. The technical room also houses the water movement pump, which is connected to the eight nozzles and allows for the creation of aquatic displays. The fountain's paving is made of washed gravel, a material prized for its high environmental compatibility. This type of finish is resistant to deformations such as potholes or depressions, even in adverse weather conditions or with intensive pedestrian and vehicular use. Furthermore, it reduces soil waterproofing, allowing rainwater to filter naturally and return to the groundwater table, without releasing substances that could alter its chemical composition.

The fountain was commissioned from Forme d'Acqua by Van Den Borre Giardini Srl.
