Dynamic Floor Fountain – Piazza del Bevaio, Valledolmo (Palermo)

Description
In the heart of Piazza del Bevaio in Valledolmo, in the area previously occupied by a pergola, a dynamic floor fountain has been created. It features six nozzles with independent pumps and programmable RGBW LED spotlights.
The project is an urban regeneration project, designed to harmoniously interact with the surrounding space. The fountain extends 15.6 meters in length and features six water jets, divided into two groups, with a maximum height of 150 cm. Six RGBW LED spotlights installed near the nozzles illuminate the water displays, creating dynamic lighting effects that can be customised according to events, seasonal themes, and the time of day.
Every detail has been carefully designed to ensure efficiency and sustainability. The filtration and recirculation system optimises water consumption, while the automatic pH and Redox control system maintains a constant and safe chemical balance. An integrated anemometer continuously monitors wind conditions, automatically adjusting the height of the jets or temporarily stopping them when necessary. This prevents water waste, enhances operational efficiency, and preserves the full usability and comfort of the surrounding area.
One of the fountain's key features is its complete pedestrian accessibility: when the system is turned off, the space is completely open and available for public events and activities. The above-ground technical room, built from scratch in Corten steel, combines functionality and aesthetics, harmoniously integrating into the landscape.
The fountain is not only a scenic element but an example of custom design: each component has been calibrated to enhance the historic square, respecting the criteria of sustainability, safety, and accessibility. The pedestrian area thus becomes a living and inclusive place, capable of continually transforming thanks to the interaction between water and light.
The My Fountain app provides continuous system monitoring, advanced consumption analytics, and real-time anomaly detection, enabling rapid intervention when needed. These capabilities support operational efficiency and deliver substantial savings in water and energy usage.
