A sculpture inspired by sport, physical activity and the well-being of body and mind.
Description
Guardistallo is a small town in the province of Pisa, in the heart of Tuscany. In this medieval village on Tuscan hills, but just a few kilometers away from the sea, Forme d´acqua created a contemporary work for the city park. The Sport Sculpture was commissioned by a local family and then they donated to the Municipality of Guardistallo. A sculpture whose theme is sport, physical activity and the well-being of body and mind.
The statue is made of AISI 304 laser-cut stainless steel and it is composed by two identical structures joined by a base. Along the sides there are some plexiglass inserts with stylized figures of sports and recreational activities. The base contains an IP68 resin-coated led bar that illuminates the sculpture from the bottom to the other, while two low-consumption LED panels, positioned inside the sculpture, act as a backlight for the plexiglass figures.
After a specific preparation steel structure was varnished with special powder coat to ensure maximum resistance and protection against aggressive agents; a warm “corten” effect was used with a reminiscent of the colors of rust. Considered the shapes of the plexiglass inserts the precision of laser cutting has been essential. They have been fixed to the structure with special silicone-based glues, to support weather and temperature changes. This sculpture is 220 cm high and 190 cm wide and 40 cm thick
