WATER AND CLIMATE – THE GREAT RIVERS OF THE WORLD MEET International Summit “PASSING ON ACTION FOR WATER AND CLIMATE”

26th October       The International Summit “Water and Climate – The Great Rivers of the World Meet Me” concluded yesterday. It was an unprecedented meeting that has summoned in Rome the world largest water basins leaders to foster the exchange of experiences and information on sustainable water management and on the implementation of joint actions and projects. “Involving in this Summit – says Luca Lanzalone, President of Acea, the main sponsor of the event – proves the allegiance of our organization to face this challenge, namely the protection of water and hence the great rivers and water basins. A challenge that has no national boundaries and can not be won or fought alone.”

The purpose is univocal: water needs to be safeguarded, by doubling or tripling global climate conferences and raising awareness among states, institutions and companies in order to work together to prevent the damage caused by climate change. The synergy of each individual expertise asset, and not only the one about water management, is a part of a strategy that seeks to join everyone’s capabilities and resources to help overcome this challenge. The victory will not benefit from someone, but will guarantee a better world for present and future generations.

According to experts from Giec, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, climate change is having a strong impact on the availability of fresh water. According to the latest estimates, a further 7% of the world’s population would see a 20% reduction in their water availability for each 1 ° C increase in earth’s temperature. 90% of the natural disasters are linked to water and, according to the OMS, by 2030 the number of people affected by floods will be three times higher than the current one.

The Summit is promoted by the Ministry of the Environment along with Unece (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe), the Riob / Imbo (International Network of Basin Organizations) and Gawac, the World Water and Climate Alliance, which brings together the Enterprise Alliance and the Alliance of the Great Cities and UNESCO.

During the Summit, six of the most famous historical fountains in Rome were coloured in blue.

This is an outstanding signal: water fountains are an essential symbol to raise awareness and to educate to water saving, especially considering the roles and responsibilities that architects and builders have when they design a fountain. Designing and building a sustainable and responsible present is possible, it is only a matter of sensibility and responsibility.
All the fountains designed and built by Forme d’Acqua have constructive technologies and techniques that minimize water consumption and preserve the salubrity of water over time, both in new projects or in renovations, including historic ones, where structural losses often generate wastefulness.

Adding sensors and replacing traditional electrical panels with electronic control panels with remote control we can constantly monitor the consumption, highlighting in real time any anomalies. Thanks to our partnership with OASE living water, the fountains we make consume 50% less energy than a few years ago.

Preserving water and saving energy means safeguarding the entire planet.
The beauty derived from a fountain is complete when the aesthetic value coincides with the environmental value.
