After 15 days of competitions among universities from all around the world, focused on innovation, energy saving and sustainability, the Solar Decathlon Middle East, the Olympic architecture of sustainable architecture, ended today.
Finally here is the winner:
The first prize goes to the solar house of the American University Virginia Tech, a project of the future house with important elements of innovation and home automation, conceived and designed to adapt to the climate of the United Arab Emirates and even to the daily needs of those who live there. Its walls run on motorized tracks, modifying the width of the spaces according to the needs of the inhabitants and the house is able to completely sustain itself in terms of energy needs, thanks to the integrated photovoltaic panels system.
The Italian team instead, Team Sapienza, with Restart4Smart has achieved the following excellent results in the partial rankings:
3 place in architecture
3 place in interiordesign
3 place in integrated photovoltaic system
3 place in communication
3 place in sustainable transportation
2 place in housing functionality
A result more than satisfactory for this team to its first participation at the olympics games of architecture with Restart4Smart, a sustainable and ecological home, characterized by Middle Eastern architectural elements, revisited in the key of Italian design.
In addition to the last two weeks’ competition Solar Decathlon was also and above all a work of almost two years for the La Sapienza Team.
In designing the house of the future, the team met Forme d’Acqua, they fell in love with Flora our fountain of the Le Sirene indoor collection, for its innovative features, its refined design and its being conceived and built with high-tech features, and they wanted it in their project.
Our fountain has been placed in the central patio of the house, becoming an integral part of it and a focal point of the house. Flora captures the visitor’s attention, helps to refresh the space and relax with the sound of water flowing or the music that can be heard through its HI-FI audio system.
Restart4Smart is a project that goes beyond architecture; it indicates to future generations the path to follow for sustainable development, a value that also unites Forme d’Acqua and that has always characterized our works.
An exceptional experience for us that we shared with La Sapienza University the path that led us to these days of competition in Dubai.
The memory of this adventure will remain with us for a long time.
